Microware Showcases Vision for a Thriving AI Ecosystem at CUHK MAE 30th Anniversary Expo

Hong Kong, October 18, 2024 – Microware Group participated in the CUHK MAE 30th Anniversary Expo cum Innovation Entrepreneurship Day. This event celebrated 30 years of AI and robotics advancement and was hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering (CUHK MAE) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, highlighting Hong Kong’s emergence as a leader in AI and robotics innovation.

In his keynote address, Mark Sze, Associate Director at Microware Limited and AI Solutions Director at Micromeet, presented a compelling vision for “Accelerating Innovation: Building a Thriving AI Ecosystem in Hong Kong.” He explored how Hong Kong’s strategic policies, government support, and industry-academia partnerships have positioned the city as a rising AI hub in the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Sze discussed the immense potential of AI to transform sectors including healthcare, finance, retail, and manufacturing, stressing the importance of collaborative efforts to drive sustainable growth and ensure the global competitiveness of Hong Kong’s AI industry.

"AI is revolutionizing industries worldwide, and Hong Kong, with its strategic position and robust infrastructure, is poised to become a leading center for AI innovation," said Mr. Sze. He introduced Micromeet’s Microcraft platform, designed to address key enterprise productivity challenges by offering scalable AI applications and customizable workflows across multiple data formats. This platform focuses on enhancing enterprise productivity while maintaining data security and compliance, featuring centralized AI model management, private deployment support, and seamless integration of diverse AI tools.

The keynote highlighted Microware’s long-term vision to reduce the cost and complexity of AI adoption for businesses, providing advanced AI tools and fostering a deep understanding of AI technology across enterprises.

The Expo featured esteemed speakers. Professor Hon Ki Tsang, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at CUHK, praised the department’s achievements in fostering talent and advancing technological breakthroughs. Albert Wong, CEO of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, shared insights on Hong Kong’s roadmap to becoming an AI hub, emphasizing the importance of government-backed initiatives. Professor Ben Chen, Chairman of CUHK MAE, discussed the importance of university-industry collaboration to bring cutting-edge innovations to market, while Professor Yunhui Liu, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at CUHK, shared advancements in robotics and AI applications developed at CUHK MAE.

The afternoon session included roadshows featuring over 20 pioneering AI and robotics startups, showcasing how MAE alumni are bridging academic breakthroughs with practical applications in diverse industries.
